Musical performances, powerful monologues and dynamic readings from works of the late influential Southern author Carson McCullers commemorated her 100th birthday bash at CSU throughout February.

As part of the university’s Carson McCullers Center for Writers and Musicians, the celebration spanned from both CSU’s main and downtown campuses in Columbus all the way up to Nyack, New York, which was where McCullers’ adult home resides and is also part of the center.

The monthlong birthday festivities culminated with actress/director Karen Allen unveiling her short film, “A Tree. A Rock. A Cloud.” Based on McCullers’ award-winning short story, the short film debuted on McCullers actual birthday, Feb. 19, at the university’s RiverCenter for the Performing Arts.
